Westgate Lakes Resort and Spa Review

David Siegel started Central Florida Investments, or CFI, from his family garage in 1972. Today, there are 26 resorts in a variety of popular vacation spots, including Orlando, Miami, Gatlinburg, Williamsburg, Las Vegas, Branson, and Park City, Utah. Besides the resorts, Central Florida Investments also owns a variety of other companies such as shopping malls, radio stations, travel agencies, apartment complexes, and others. Westgate is among the leaders of the timeshare sales industry, and the company is growing and developing rapidly. Westgate Lakes is among the top three most popular of the company’s resorts. You cannot beat this location! It is located in the heart of Orlando, in the middle of Disney, Universal and Seaworld parks, also known as the “golden triangle”. Westgate Lakes by far is in the best location among the other 4 Westgate Resorts in Orlando–Westgate Vacation Villas, Westgate Towers, Westgate Blue Tree and Westgate Leisure Resorts. It is less than half a mile from interstate I-4, less than 20 minutes away from the Orlando airport. International Drive, the Orlando “strip” with waterparks, restaurants, shops, go carts, outlet malls, and other attractions is also a block away from Westgate. When you are staying at Westgate, it is alright not to have a car as everything is nearby and they provide discounted transportation. If you do have your own car, the resort is very full during summer and holidays so it is very hard to find parking close enough to the unit.

The Resort sits on a 110 acres of lakefront property and has over 2000 units ranging from studios to 4 bedrooms, with two new buildings being built right now. There are 11 heated pools, a restaurant, deli, a convenience store, activities center, paddle boats, discounted transportation, bars, internet cafe and a Disney planning center. There are two new buildings under construction at this time and a waterpark with a lazy river.

The rating of the resort is three and a half star, it does offer a lot of amenities for a family. The units are spacious, there is a big difference between staying in the older buildings and the new ones. The older section–buildings 1700-2300 are less well-kept, and the inside has not been updated recently. The new buildings feature granite countertops, big jacuzzi tubs, updated colors, and a modern layout.
